How a Wall Tie Survey Is Carried Out
CavTie checks accessible elevations for cracking, bulging and other visible defects, then investigates the position and condition of ties within the cavity where appropriate.
The inspection method depends on the wall construction, finishes, insulation and access. Small inspection holes or localised brick removal may be needed; access and making good are discussed when arranging the survey.
Findings cover the tie type, condition, distribution and relevant cavity defects within the inspected areas. Recommendations may include replacement ties, isolation of affected original ties or localised masonry repairs. Any inspection limitations are explained in the report.
